In his year in office, The Mayor of Dacorum Cllr William Allen, is raising money for a new Future Fund which aims to provide prompt, targeted grants to help community groups in Dacorum achieve a positive sustainable future for residents, in particular for initiatives that may not find financial assistance elsewhere. Currently the Fund is accumulating funds and from Summer 2024, local organisations within the borough will be able to apply for small grants.

In a huge fundraising effort William is walking around the borough of Dacorum in his Breaking Boundaries Sponsored Walk between 3 and 7th April 2024. There will also be different events at stops around the borough from a quiz night to history talks and pub lunches.

He would love for you to support him by either:

• Sponsor William
• Raise your own sponsorship by joining a leg (or all) of the walk
• Come along to one of the fundraising events along the route

Money raised for the Mayor’s Future Fund (managed by Community Action Dacorum) can support local community initiatives, such as:

• A food bank helping families make ends meet
• Volunteers driving elderly residents of a rural community to their hospital appointments
• Residents groups learning how to save energy, water and waste, one street at a time
• A youth club providing a safe space and life skills for vulnerable young people
• A support group ensuring ex-offenders avoid re-offending
