Community Transport

Our origins are rooted in the redevelopment of the UK after the second world war.  Originally formed in 1947, the charity set out to coordinate volunteer efforts in the community and has continued to work to promote the joy of volunteering ever since.

Community Action Dacorum is a non-profit organisation that has been actively involved in promoting community engagement and social development in the Dacorum area. Founded in 1982, Community Action Dacorum has played a significant role in fostering a sense of unity and empowerment among local residents.

Throughout its history, Community Action Dacorum has been dedicated to addressing various social issues and improving the quality of life for individuals and communities. The organisation has focused on initiatives such as community development, volunteer coordination, and advocacy for marginalized groups.

Volunteering

Community Action Dacorum has been instrumental in facilitating community-led projects and initiatives. By providing resources, guidance, and support, Community Action Dacorum has empowered local residents to take an active role in shaping their neighbourhoods. These projects have ranged from environmental conservation efforts to educational programs, health and well-being initiatives, and cultural events.

Over the years, Community Action Dacorum has collaborated with local authorities, businesses, and other community organisations to create a network of support and cooperation. By fostering partnerships, Community Action Dacorum has been able to leverage resources and expertise to maximize its impact and reach.

In addition to its project-based work, Community Action Dacorum has also been involved in community organising and advocacy. The organisation has been a voice for the community, advocating for positive change and influencing local policies and decision-making processes.

During the Covid pandemic of 2020/2021, Community Action Dacorum mobilised nearly 1000 volunteers to support the NHS with the vaccination programme.  Together they supported over 150,000 Dacorum residents receiving their jabs.

Through its dedication to community action, Community Action Dacorum has made a lasting impact on the Dacorum area. By empowering individuals, fostering collaboration, and addressing social issues, Community Action Dacorum has helped create a stronger, more inclusive, and vibrant community.

As Community Action Dacorum continues to evolve and adapt to the changing needs of the community, it remains committed to its mission of promoting community engagement, social development, and positive change in Dacorum.
