Volunteers are people who give their time and services freely without receiving payment to do something to help others or contribute to a cause. They work with many different organisations including voluntary and community groups, schools, hospitals, police and other public sector services to support their day-to-day activities and enhance their services. Whether it is answering the office phone or being on the front-line supporting community safety all volunteers have a positive impact on their community. In return volunteers gain various benefits from their experience.

If you want to volunteer, this section is for you.  There are lots of opportunities for you to use your time to bring joy to yourself and others.  Volunteering is done for fun, with people making a real difference to people’s lives.  Our volunteers tell us that they wouldn’t know what to do without their volunteering and that it enhances their lives, they meet new friends, and they get real purpose from helping others.

There are a wide range of opportunities to volunteer, make a difference to people in need, young people’s development, animals, the environment, the list goes on and on.  Whether you want to volunteer for us at Community Action Dacorum or one of the 40+ organisations in the Borough, we can help you find the perfect match for you.  We can link you with sports clubs, youth clubs, you name it!  You can also volunteer for one-off events or make a regular commitment.  Whatever you can spare, there will be an organisation locally who can benefit from you.

Volunteering also works for you.  If you want to meet new people, why not volunteer?  If you want to develop your career, why not volunteer in something that develops you?  If you want to find your solace, why not volunteer with animals or the environment?  There are so many opportunities in Dacorum, so make the decision to volunteer today.
