Learning is a lifelong journey, and research shows that taking part in education throughout our lives can improve our health, wellbeing and quality of life. Developing new skills, building confidence and staying mentally active can help people achieve their personal, educational and employment goals.
At Community Action Dacorum, our Training and Development team supports residents aged 19–65 through a range of learning opportunities across Dacorum and the surrounding areas. Our courses reflect our three key areas of focus – Communities, Employability and Wellbeing – while also supporting the work of our trading company, HITS.
We deliver a range of accredited and non-accredited courses, including:

Our courses are free to learners and are designed to support personal progress at every stage. Throughout each course, our tutors provide guidance and tailored feedback, and will recommend suitable next steps for each learner based on their goals, progress, and future aspirations.

Below is a list of our current FREE courses which have been funded by The Education and Skills Funding Agency for adults who make the following criteria:
- A Hertfordshire resident
- Aged 19 years or older on 31st August 2025
- UK National and lived in the UK for the last 3 years or EEA National with settled/pre-settled status and lived in the UK/EEA for the last 3 years
| ESOL for Work: A short, practical course designed for beginner ESOL learners who want to start using English in the workplace. The course focuses on essential job-related vocabulary, simple interview responses, and everyday speaking skills needed in work environments. | Job Seeking in the UK: This course supports learners to develop the skills needed to search for and apply for jobs in the UK. Learners will gain confidence in using Jobcentre and other online job search platforms, creating and updating a CV, and matching their skills and experience to suitable job opportunities. | Introduction To Working In Catering/Hospitality: This introductory course provides an overview of the catering and hospitality industry. Learners will explore the different roles within the sector, including chefs, waiting staff, and reception teams, and gain an understanding of how these roles work together to deliver effective customer service.
