It was a lovely sunny start to the Community Action Dacorum’s Making Connections networking event at the The Box Moor Trust Centre on Thursday 16th July where we all had many useful conversations and collaboration.

Our guest speaker was Nicki Denton-Masih on the importance Machins Solicitors LLP places on community involvement and actively supporting local charities. Machins have been a member of Connect for many years and supports our work with local charities.

She spoke about the benefits of being active in the local community :-
-Develops strong team relationships through teamwork/building
-Improves the teams physical and mental wellbeing
-Strengthens local connections
-Creates a culture of pride and an inclusive workplace
-Enhances personal fulfilment though community project work
-Increases staff morale and engagement, able to nominate their preferred local charities to support

Machins also offer free advice clinics, webinars and are involved in Make a Will Month providing legal advice to the local residents and business community.

We then updated everyone on local community events and highlighted a couple of items that local businesses can get involved in-

Local businesses are invited to attend the Generation Dacorum Schools Careers Fair Sept 30th to showcase the type of careers on offer and inspire young people into the world of work.

Business mentors for The Dragons Apprentice Challenge are needed for the next challenge starting in September, supporting school students with business advice and to help them raise funds for local charities via enterprising activities.
