A Toast to Community Spirit:

April 1, 2025

How Tring Brewery is Fuelling Our Repair Shed Project

The Repair Shed, a vital charity project founded in 2015, has become a cornerstone of our local community, bringing local, older men together in welcoming sheds. Here, they can engage in making and mending, forging valuable bonds with like-minded individuals known as ‘Shedders’ and actively combating social isolation. Initiatives like The Repair Shed, overseen by Community Action Dacorum, rely significantly on the generosity and support of the community to sustain their impactful work.

In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Tring Brewery has proudly chosen The Repair Shed as their ‘Charity of Choice’ for 2025. This exciting partnership involves Tring Brewery brewing a special beer each month throughout 2025, with the primary aim of raising both awareness and crucial funds for The Repair Shed.

This isn’t just a standard fundraising effort; the monthly beers will feature creative names and imagery inspired by the world of hardware and ‘elbow grease’, incorporating The Repair Shed’s official logo. Furthermore, Tring Brewery is enthusiastically planning to host unique fundraising events throughout the year, promising a range of opportunities for the community to get involved. Jared, Communications Manager, from Tring Brewery articulated the synergy between the organisations, noting that the ‘Shedders’ are hardworking local men, many of whom appreciate quality ale, making the partnership a “perfect fit” given their shared appreciation for social community settings.

The support from Tring Brewery is anticipated to have a profound positive impact. Tony Mackinder, the Repair Shed Officer, expressed his delight at the collaboration, particularly as 2025 marks the 10th Anniversary of this impactful project.

Simon Aulton, Chief Executive at Community Action Dacorum, emphasised that the funds and increased visibility generated by Tring Brewery’s support will be vital for the continued longevity of the Repair Sheds, ultimately enabling them to help even more people locally.

The Repair Sheds play a crucial role in reducing loneliness and isolation across the borough, offering a supportive environment where individuals can pursue practical interests, share skills, and build meaningful social connections, contributing significantly to their overall health and wellbeing.

As a “proud local brewer”, Tring Brewery recognises the inherent “value in social community settings, whether that be the warmth of a quaint village pub or the well-worn workbench of a men’s shed”. Their commitment to crafting these special monthly ales, such as the already released “Chisel and Chip”, “Dovetail”, and “Level Headed”, alongside their plans for fundraising events like bi-annual members’ evenings, called “Mash-Ups” and the annual “ToadFest” beer festival, which will be held on Saturday May 3rd this year, exemplify their dedication to this partnership and the wider local community.

This collaboration between a cherished local business and a vital community charity serves as a powerful reminder of the strength and spirit within our community. By supporting each other, we can collectively address important social issues and ensure the continued success of invaluable projects like The Repair Shed.

We encourage you to support this fantastic initiative by looking out for Tring Brewery’s special monthly brews in local pubs and at their Dunsley Farm shop and by staying tuned for announcements regarding their upcoming fundraising events via their social media and newsletter channels.
