A Lifeline on Wheels:
Helping Our Tring Neighbours Live with Dignity and Joy
Being a volunteer helper for our Door to Store service is a fantastic way to get out and about while enjoying the “good company” and “camaraderie” of our Tring residents.
Volunteers often find that the experience is incredibly beneficial for their own mental well-being, providing a sense of purpose and the rewarding joy of supporting the Tring community.
As volunteer Janet shares, the social aspect is key; it is an “easy” role where you can build real friendships, turning a routine chore into a fun, lively “social outing” for everyone on board.
For our service users, these fortnightly trips are often their “only social interaction” and a vital lifeline for maintaining their independence. The positive effect is “huge,” as helpers provide more than just practical assistance—such as putting shopping away in the fridge for our 99-year-old passengers—they offer the much-needed company that combats isolation.
By joining our team of friendly volunteers, you become a central part of our “More Than a Minibus” mission, ensuring that vulnerable neighbours feel valued and connected to their community.
