A Toast to The Repair Shed!
All of us here at The Repair Shed are incredibly excited to be Tring Brewery’s chosen charity for their 3rd annual ToadFest charity beer festival on Saturday, May 3rd, from 5 pm to 10 pm. This year’s ToadFest, taking place at the brewery at Dunsley Farm, London Road, HP23 6HA1, is a very special occasion for us as all the profits will be donated directly to The Repair Shed.
ToadFest promises to be a fantastic evening, featuring over 15 of Tring Brewery’s excellent ales (both cask and keg) as part of the £30 all-inclusive ticket. For those wanting some food, there’s also a ticket option for £36 which includes their beer-steeped burgers, with vegan, veggie, and gluten-free choices available. The atmosphere will be lively, with the Tring-based band ‘The Elastic Cats’ providing live music, playing indie and rock hits from the 90s and 2000s. It’s quite something that their frontman, Tom, is also one of Tring Brewery’s draymen!.
This partnership with Tring Brewery means a great deal to us at The Repair Shed, an initiative of Community Action Dacorum. Our aim is to reduce social isolation for people over 50 by providing creative, hands-on spaces – our welcoming sheds – for woodworking and DIY. These sheds are places where our members, the ‘Shedders’, can work on projects like hedgehog houses and bird boxes, restore old items, and find a sense of purpose and camaraderie. As Tony Mackinder, our Repair Shed Officer, has said, we are thrilled to be collaborating with Jared and the team at the brewery, especially as we celebrate our 10th Anniversary in 2025.
Simon Aulton, Chief Executive at Community Action Dacorum, has emphasised just how much of a massive difference The Repair Sheds make in reducing loneliness and isolation across the borough, and we are incredibly grateful for Tring Brewery’s support.
Beyond ToadFest, Tring Brewery is showing their commitment to us throughout 2025 with monthly special beers that are themed around DIY and ‘elbow grease’, even featuring our official logo on them. We are also looking forward to bi-annual members’ evenings, an online raffle, and other fundraising events that Tring Brewery has planned to support our work.
So, we really hope you’ll join us at ToadFest on May 3rd. It promises to be a fantastic night of great beer and music, and you’ll be directly supporting the vital work of The Repair Shed in our local community. We’re truly looking forward to raising a glass with you all in support of our ‘genuine initiative’, as Jared from Tring Brewery so kindly put it. We are a community of hardworking and friendly local people, and this partnership will help us continue to grow and support more ‘Shedders’ in the years to come.
