Local MP backs Volunteer Drive for local charities
We had a fantastic and productive meeting today with our local Member of Parliament, David Taylor, who met with our Community Transport Lead Officer, Misty Fletcher, and staff.
We shared how our transport services—including Day Trippers and Door2Store—provide a crucial lifeline for elderly, disabled, and vulnerable individuals within the Dacorum community, focusing on improving their wellbeing, reducing loneliness, and enhancing community connectivity. Our services are truly “More Than just a Minibus,” offering much-needed social interaction and companionship.
We also discussed the importance of funding to sustain our operations but highlighted our most urgent need: volunteers. Mr Taylor has pledged his support to help us recruit more people to join our team of volunteers including drivers.
Volunteer drivers play an invaluable role by helping individuals get to appointments and enjoy outings, making a significant difference in the lives of those who need it most. This rewarding role offers great flexibility—you choose the day and frequency you volunteer—and you receive reimbursement for mileage expenses. We also need non driver volunteers, to help residents on and off busses, and sometimes admin work in the transport office.
If you live in Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted, Tring, or the surrounding villages in Dacorum, and would like to feel valued, appreciated, and useful by helping your community, we urgently need you to join our team.
