Empower Your Community: Essential Sessions for Dacorum’s Voluntary and Community Groups!

September 15, 2025

Community Action Dacorum is dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of people in our area of operation, supporting our community through member and partner organisations. We’re thrilled to announce a series of free, insightful sessions designed to equip staff and volunteers in voluntary and community groups with vital skills and knowledge. Don’t miss these opportunities to strengthen your organisation and enhance your impact!

First, join us for “Awareness that makes a difference – Lunch and learn” on Thursday 25 September 2025, from 13:00 to 13:45 PM, delivered online via Teams. This session, led by Haley Star from the Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline (HDAH), provides practical knowledge to recognise signs of domestic abuse and respond safely and appropriately. It’s a crucial opportunity for anyone in a frontline role or looking to strengthen their understanding to better support the community.

Next, on Monday 6 October 2025, from 10:00 AM to 13:00 PM, we present “Good Management, Great Impact” at The Roundhouse Community Hub in Hemel Hempstead. Our CEO, Simon Aulton, will guide you through the essentials of good management and governance, helping you build confidence in running your group smoothly and legally. Learn how to make clear decisions and lead your organisation with ease to grow and succeed.

Later that month, on Thursday 30 October 2025, from 10:30 AM to 13:00 PM, also at The Roundhouse Community Hub, attend “Fit for Funding for Small Groups”. Loretta Anderson, our Head of Communities, will provide practical tips and examples to help you strengthen your group’s governance, understand what funders seek, and prepare strong, successful applications. Secure the support your group needs to thrive!

Finally, connect directly with a major funder at our “Meet the Funder Event: National Lottery Community Fund for Voluntary and Community Groups” on Wednesday 8 October 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM, online via Teams. Discover their new funding priorities – Community, Health, Children & Young People, and Environment – learn about eligibility, the application process, and get your questions answered during a live Q&A session.

All these events are free to attend, but booking your place is essential. Visit our website or use the QR codes on the event flyers to secure your spot and help us continue making a positive difference in Dacorum!
