We are absolutely delighted to announce that our very own Derek Peverill, a dedicated Volunteer Adviser at Community Action Dacorum, has been formally recognised as a Community Champion by David Taylor, Member of Parliament for Hemel Hempstead. 

In a formal letter from the House of Commons, David Taylor MP expressed his admiration for Derek’s profound impact across the borough. Derek is a familiar and welcoming face at The Roundhouse Community Hub in the Marlowes and is often seen representing the charity at local fairs and community events, ensuring that volunteering opportunities remain accessible to everyone in our community. 

Matching People to Purpose the MP specifically highlighted Derek’s “exceptional ability to match people to the right roles.” Whether he is supporting residents looking to overcome loneliness, helping individuals recovering from addiction, or assisting those seeking vital work experience, Derek’s “patience, understanding and insight” have truly changed lives. 

As David Taylor MP noted, Derek serves as a “shining example that age is no barrier to making a difference,” and his commitment is an inspiration to both his colleagues and the residents he supports. 

A vital part of our “Circle of Support” at Community Action Dacorum, our mission is to improve the quality of life and well-being of our community by working constructively with individuals to overcome barriers. Derek’s work at the Volunteer Centre is a cornerstone of this mission, helping to recruit and refer hundreds of residents into meaningful roles that strengthen our borough.
