Community Action Dacorum welcomes new Chair and Trustees to drive community impact

December 5, 2025

Community Action Dacorum, a leading charity dedicated to improving lives across the borough of Dacorum, is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter Ashman as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees.
Peter succeeds Colin Gage, who steps down after many years of distinguished service as Chair but will continue to contribute as a Trustee.

Peter brings extensive leadership experience from the not-for-profit and publishing sectors, having previously served as CEO of BMJ and Chair of the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP). He has been a Trustee of Community Action Dacorum since 2022 and is well known locally for his involvement in charitable initiatives and as a presenter on Radio Dacorum. Commenting on his appointment, Peter said: “I am delighted to take on the role of Chair at Community Action Dacorum. This charity plays a vital role in supporting thousands of people in our community through services that enhance wellbeing, employability, and social inclusion. I look forward to working with our dedicated team and trustees to build on this impact.”

Community Action Dacorum also welcomes four new Trustees to strengthen its governance and strategic direction:

Louise Towler – Award-winning digital strategist and Managing Director of Indigo Tree, bringing expertise in technology, accessibility, and sustainability.

Audrey Weightman – Experienced leader with a strong background in community engagement and governance.

Liz Green OBE DL – Former High Sheriff of Hertfordshire and Deputy Lieutenant, widely recognised for her work in literacy, rehabilitation, and volunteering.

Graeme Elliot – Local government representative and advocate for community development.

Outgoing Chair Colin Gage, who led the charity through significant growth and challenges including the pandemic, commented:

“It has been an honour to serve as Chair. I am proud of what we have achieved together – from expanding services to supporting thousands of residents during the cost-of-living crisis. I look forward to continuing as a Trustee and supporting Peter and the new board.”
