Change a Life:
Your Unwanted Tech Can Bridge the Digital Divide with Staying Connected!
In today’s increasingly digital world, many individuals find themselves isolated, struggling to connect with loved ones, schedule vital appointments, or access essential online benefits. This challenge is known as “digital exclusion“. Our ‘Staying Connected‘ project directly addresses this issue by taking donated equipment, securely wiping and resetting it, and then passing it on to someone who desperately needs it.
The impact of this project is truly transformative, as demonstrated by poignant stories like that of Jaikaar. Jaikaar, a dedicated husband and father of three, experienced a tragic turn in 2017 when he was struck by a car at Christmas, leaving him with life-altering injuries and his family facing severe financial constraints. With his family living in India, his wife was left alone to manage overwhelming responsibilities, even enduring her own health issues from the physical demands of caring for him. Thanks to the ‘Staying Connected‘ project, Jaikaar received a tablet and internet access, enabling him to communicate with his family. This brought him immense comfort, as he could see their faces, even if he couldn’t physically touch them. Our Digital Champion witnessed the profound, heart-wrenching joy this connection brought him.
While we are thrilled to be transforming lives through connectivity, we are now facing a critical challenge: we are helping people quicker than we are getting tech donated to recondition. The demand for devices is currently outpacing our supply, making your contribution of unwanted technology more crucial than ever.
How You Can Help: Donate Your Unwanted Tech
Your old laptops, tablets, and smartphones can become lifelines for others. By donating your unused tech, you directly contribute to bridging the digital divide and empowering individuals like Jaikaar to stay connected.
You can easily donate your equipment by:
- Bring them into our offices at 48 High Street, Hemel Hempstead, HP1 3AF.
- Dropping them into the Volunteer Centre Roundhouse in the Marlowes.
- Calling us on 01442 253935 to arrange a donation.
Remember to leave your details so we can send you a certificate confirming that your equipment has been securely wiped. Every piece of technology you donate makes a tangible difference, helping us continue our mission of digital inclusion.
