A Champion in Our Community

February 6, 2026

The Impact of Tricia Glenister and Tesco

At Community Action Dacorum, we believe that bringing people and organisations together is the most effective way to achieve more for our borough. For many years, one of our most steadfast partners in this mission has been Tricia Glenister, the “Community Champion” at the Jarman Park Tesco in Hemel Hempstead.

Tricia’s role is far more than just a job title; she acts as a vital bridge between the corporate sector and local grassroots causes. Her support has been instrumental in helping our charity overcome barriers and deliver “real-world solutions” to those in need.

More Than Just a Collection Point

Most shoppers at Jarman Park will have seen our volunteers standing at the entrance with collection tins during the festive season. Thanks to Tricia’s coordination, these Christmas collection days have become a staple of our fundraising calendar. These small donations from the public, facilitated by Tesco’s generosity, directly support our essential services like Community Transport and Shopmobility.

A Warm Welcome for Knit and Natter

Tricia’s impact is often most profound in the quiet, consistent support she provides to wellbeing groups. For years, she has ensured that the Knit and Natter meetings are supplied with donations of tea and biscuits.

While a small gesture to some, this provision is vital for the natterers who attend. It ensures they can meet in peace, safety, and comfort at The Roundhouse Community Hub, enjoying an atmosphere that fosters lasting friendships and combats loneliness. As Tricia noted during a recent visit: “It is such a pleasure to visit them along with the knitters and natters group today”.

Supporting the Mayor’s Future Fund

Tricia’s and Tesco’s generosity continues to reach new heights. Just last week, she donated six lovely prizes for a raffle at The Pride of Dacorum Awards. All proceeds from this event are dedicated to The Mayor’s Future Fund, which supports small local charities that quietly transform lives every day. Within Dacorum there are more than 500 small charities.

A Legacy of Partnership

As a “Council for Voluntary Service,” Community Action Dacorum aims to build the capacity of the local third sector. Tricia Glenister embodies this goal, not only by supporting this charity but by assisting numerous other local organisations of all sizes. Her tireless work ensures that the support of the community—represented by every blue token customers cast at the checkout—is directed toward building a stronger, more inclusive Dacorum for everyone
