European Voluntary Service

What is EVS?

EVS stands for European Voluntary Service, a scheme funded under the Erasmus + programme of the European Commission offering young people the chance to live and volunteer in another country. EVS is aimed at people between the ages of 18 to 30 and is designed to improve their skills whilst meeting people from all over the world, getting to know  different cultures and learning a new language.

Community Action Dacorum has been heavily involved in EVS over the last 5 years, both hosting and sending people for up to 11 months at a time.  In addition, CAD has been instrumental in organising volunteering opprtunities for other people in our partner countries.

Your travel and accommodation will be provided and you will receive pocket money for food and living expenses, plus entertainment.  You will have the chance to volunteer with NGOs, charities, public bodies or community organisation; for example, you could find yourself giving English lessons, working with young children, helping the elderly or leading sports groups.

Above all, it gives you the chance to gain new skills, experience life in a different country and culture, and make new friends.
